The discussion of Energy Healing begins with the discussion of energy itself which can be broken down into two types:
- Veritable – can be measured
- Putative – have yet to be measured
Veritable includes concepts such as sound, which is another form of integrative medicine we use and can be viewed under Sound Therapy. The term Energy Healing refers to techniques that involve the putative energy field.
Putative – also biofield – is based on the understanding that the body is made up of energy which flows through your body down to every cell. This vital energy has different names in different cultures – Chi in Chinese, Qi in Korean, Ki in Japanese, Doshas in Ayurvedic medicine, Prana in India – and cannot be measured because it is beyond the senses of our eyes. Yet for over 2000 years in the East it has been practiced and believed that this flow contributes to the balance of life energies and is necessary for maintaining health. Herbal medicine, acupuncture, and cupping are just some methods for correcting imbalances in the biofield in order to restore the flow of energy through the energy centers of the body, sometimes referred to as Meridians or Chakras.
