Our Integrative Approach
Integrative medicine is an approach whereby your health and wellbeing are considered from a physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual and environmental perspective. No longer viewing ailments, disease and emotional issues from purely a physical perspective but taking into consideration every aspect of your being.
Once every aspect is considered, modalities can be leveraged and integrative within Western medicine to heal illness and disease and help regain and maintain optimum health.
If we look at disease from a holistic point of view, we know that feelings such as stress, trauma, depression, worry, anxiety, shame and similar emotions are harmful to our emotional body. This stops the natural flow of energy (know as Ki in Japan, Chi in China, Qi in Korea, Prana in India) which we always have access to and is flowing in perfect order. Over time, the flow can stiffen and be eliminated altogether through blockages. This is very similar to blocks in arteries which restrict the natural flow of blood to and from the heart. When this occurs, the body experiences dis-ease. This is one example of how our emotional body can affect our physical body.
According to the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine, a collaborative alliance of 46 academic health centers dedicated to the advancement of integrative health care, “integrative medicine is the practice of medicine that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing.”
We focus on modalities considered as Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) which are designed to compliment conventional Medicine. These modalities are aimed to facilitate your body’s natural healing response and are therefore natural methods to help you reawaken this response.
