Mindfulness Meditation Series: Letting Go

This week’s theme: Trust

Trust in life, the self and mindfulness and other practices which contribute to our growth are extremely beneficial in any journey. Trusting the process is key to acceptance, non-striving and non-judgement which are the pillars of Mindfulness. We will explore this topic through Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teachings/techniques followed by a meditation to release what no longer serves us.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the awareness of the present moment while paying attention to our mind and body without any judgement.

Mindfulness meditation is unique in that it is not directed toward getting us to be different from who are how we are right now. Instead, it helps us become aware of what is already true moment by moment and accept it without any judgment.

Mindfulness meditation is uses breath work to bring us back to present moment awareness. It is in the present, that we can be aware and respond to anything.

What are the effects? 

Since the inception of MBSR in 1979, over 15,000 studies have been conducted by over 250 independent research institutes showing Mindfulness Meditation to be clinically effective for the management of stress, anxiety and panic, chronic pain, depression, obsessive thinking, strong emotional reactivity, and a wide array of medical and mental health related conditions. The University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness Stress Reduction program’s have shown “a 35% reduction in the number of medical symptoms and a 40% reduction in psychological symptoms.”

What to bring

Please bring a cushion or yoga mat. You are welcome to sit or lay down for the meditations or a combination. Additionally, you can bring whatever you need to be comfortable i.e. water, sweater, blanket, pillow, bolster etc.

About you host

I am a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) coach and instructor training individuals privately, in group meditations and for healthcare’s, hospitals and corporations. I train healthcare professionals to use Mindfulness for preventing burnout and employees at corporations on self-care tips using Mindfulness to deal with daily stressors.
